Beth's Background

The Outsider Turned Travel Adventurer...

Have you ever felt like you were an outsider looking in?

Growing up, Beth's family frequently relocated for her father's work, which put her in the seat of “new kid” at 7 schools in 12 years. She constantly found herself wondering...

...Will I make new friends?

...What will my teachers and others think of me?

...Will they understand me?

It was not easy. In fact, it was hard on her, and she found herself as an outsider many times.

Is it possible to thrive on foreign ground?

Fast forward to age 21. Beth's obstacles turned her into an adventurous and determined explorer who craved new experiences all over the world.  She grew into a resilient woman who had a gift of embracing new people, situations, food, and diverse experiences.

After studying French for eight years, she chose to study abroad in Rouen, France at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce (ESC), now NEOMA Business School, in Normandy. Her first job after college at Indiana University was as a junior consultant at a top international consulting firm.

What happens when you embrace the challenge?

"When I arrived in Rouen and found myself alone in a strange room in a strange land, I was terrified! But, a funny thing happened that night that was different from any other new school or novel experience – I made a choice to embrace the experiences that were ahead of me, and surrender my fear. After that, France was magical!"

A global citizen was born – and Beth has since traveled and worked all over the world, setting foot in four continents and and 15 countries. She is fluent in multiple languages.

She furthered her career and studies, focusing on culture and organizations, earning her Master's degree in Learning & Organizational Change from Northwestern University, and taking courses at the Intercultural Communication Institute in Portland, Oregon. Beth is also a certified coach.

She now helps others build bridges with other cultures, and feel more at ease in whatever intercultural situation their work or lives take them.
